More Anti-Gay Batshitery from the Catholic Church And "Christian" University

I've noted before that those who were having near orgasms over statements by Pope Francis which they argued were ushering a period of "change" in the Roman Catholic Church were deluding themselves.  The truth is that NOTHING has changed other than Francis is far better at playing the PR game than his creepy predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI, a/k/a/ Pope Palpatine.  An example of just how foul and petty the Church remains in its disparagement of gays come from Peru where Bishop Luis Barbaren to call Rep. Carlos Bruce, the sponsor of a bill that would have approved civil unions in Peru , a "faggot."  Barbaren when on to rant that "gay" is not a Peruvian word and that the correct word is maricon (faggot).   Can't you feel the Christian love?  Sadly, the bill did not pass.  I guess I won't be seeing Manchu Picchu anytime soon.

Not to be outdone,  Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, which calss itself a "Christian university" is so anti-gay that it forbade students from participating in a bake sale where the proceeds would have benefited homeless LGBT youth.  It's yet another example of why decent, moral people should want nothing to do with being labeled as "Christian."  Thankfully, the Millennials are getting this message an 1/3 have walked away from religion. The Raw Story has details on this horrible story.  Here are highlights:

Christian university in Michigan has told students that they are forbidden from raising money for a group that benefits homeless LGBT youth because to do so would “conflict” with the university’s “mission and practices.”

According to Blue Nation Review, students at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan wanted to hold a bake sale to benefit Fierce Chicago, a relief group dedicated to providing services to LGBT homeless youth, who make up an estimated 40 percent of kids under 18 in the U.S. who have no place to live.

The bake sale was planned by AULL4One, Andrews University’s unofficial gay-straight alliance, which boasts around 80 members, but is not allowed to advertise on campus because of the school’s affiliation with the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

In an email to Cruz, AU Dean of Student Life Steve Yeagley said that the university would not allow AULL4One to hold the sale, explaining, “I think the most helpful thing I can do is to draw your attention to the fundraising policy found in the Student Handbook. It simply states that funds may be raised for non-profit organizations ‘whose mission and practices do not conflict with those of the University.’ I think the judgment in this case is that there may be a perceived conflict between the mission and practices of Andrews University and those of Fierce Chicago. . . . their issue with Fierce Chicago is the organization’s “perceived advocacy stance” toward LGBT orientations.
In other words, if Fierce Chicago was operating an "ex-gay" torture therapy program to which it subjected homeless LGBT youth while housing  them, the university would have been fine with the fundraising.  But since Fierce Chicago accepts modern knowledge on sexual orientation, it was off limits according to the "godly folk."

If there is a Hell, I suspect that it will be filled with members of the Catholic Church hierarchy, individuals like the members of the administration at Andrews University, and, of course, all of the leaders of "family values" Christian organizations and pastors for anti-gay churches.
